The Bengal Revival Room

The Bengal revival or Bengal School, an influential art movement, originated in the early twentieth century, primarily in kolkata and Shantiniketan. Closely associated with Indian nationalism, it was influenced by the ideas of Rabindranath, Abanindranath and Gaganendranath Tagore. Their work was carried forward by their students and artist friends, including Nandalal Bose, Mukul Dey, M.A.R Chughtai, Venkatappa, Surendra Nath Ganguly, Asit Kumar Haldar and others. This section includes mythological themes explored by Nandalal Bose, postcards sent by the students to their masters and cubist studies by Gaganendranath.
